A.C. "Charlie" and Betty (Atkins) Cox came to Ridgway in 1949 after spending two
years in Norris City working for and managing the Turner Funeral Home.
They
bought the Marion Drone House in Ridgway, an old abandoned home that some kids
said was haunted. Isn't that ironic; now it is a funeral home. |
As time went on Charlie and Betty started a funeral home in New Haven. In 1979,
their son Tony came into the business, and 1986 they built a funeral home in
Shawneetown.
In 1993, Tony bought out his parents. Tony and his wife Gayla now run the
funeral homes with assistance from his parents, who remain very active to this day in their
service to our community. |
