Norma J. Sork, age 81, a lifelong resident of Ridgway, passed on this life, Monday, July 16, 2018 at her home, after an extended illness, surrounded by her family. Norma was born in Ridgway on February 10, 1937 at home in Ridgway to the late Eugene and Marie (Chapman) Tarrants. On April 4, 1952 she married the love of her life, Edgar Sork who preceded her in death in 2005. They had been married 53 years.
Norma worked outside the home through the years, at fabric shops, grocery stores, and the Popcorn Plant while maintaining a comfortable home for her family and was always the home for the holidays with loved ones. She had many interests, among them making quilts for herself and family; her flower gardens were beautiful and was an accomplished seamstress. She had made most of her and her family clothes over the years. She also enjoyed crafts. Norma was a faithful member of the Ridgway First Baptist Church. She was a good wife, mother, sister and friend and will be missed.
Norma is survived by her son, Tom Sork of Ridgway, a daughter Donna (Charles) Corbin of Omaha, a sister, Jo (Alan) Boester of Marion, Brother in laws, Lonnie Sauls of Ridgway, and Lyndal (Ellen) Sork of Ridgway. Many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Edgar she was also preceded by 2 sisters, Sandy (Tarrants) Sauls and Cathy Tarrants, Brother in law, Bud (Essie) Sork and sister in law, Mary Roe Hendrix.
Visitation for Norma will be on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and funeral service will be at the funeral home on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Rev. Duane Faulkenberry and Rev. Randy Sork will officiate and she will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Jackson Cemetery in Ridgway immediately following.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Ridgway First Baptist Church, American Cancer Society or the Arthritis Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
