Anna Mae Greer

Anna Mae Greer, age 93 longtime resident of Gallatin County, died peacefully, May 28, 2012 in the Fountainview Nursing Home. Anna Mae was born in Junction, IL on June 13, 1918 to the late James and Mary (Willis) Walters. On October 5, 1940 she married the love of her life, Delmar F. Greer who preceded her in death in 2000. Anna Mae was a lifelong and faithful member of the Junction First Baptist Church. She had retired from Bradley Brothers Oil Co., loved to Cook, Garden and her church. She was the true meaning of the word Lady and was very witty. But her most cherished times was being with her family whom she loved so deeply. She was a wonderful wife, good mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed.

Anna Mae is survived by, 2 daughters, Janet and Ed Thacker of Eldorado, IL, Jeanie and Mike Cox of Ridgway, IL, 2 Grandchildren, Tammy (Bruce) Arnold, and Michael (Angie) Cox, 4 Great Grandchildren, Peyton and Noah Arnold, and Jonathon and Gracie Cox. 2 sisters, Laura (Jack) Edwards of Norris City and Doris (Charles) Morten of Equality, IL. And several Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 5 Brothers, Harrison, Delbert, John, Hiram and Everett Walters, 2 sisters, Nancy Sheppard and Edith Beard

Visitation for Anna Mae will be Wednesday, May 30, 2012 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway. Funeral will be on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at the funeral home starting at 11:00 AM with Rev. Larry Lewis and Rev. Roy Dale Orr officiating. Interment will follow in the Hogan Cemetery south of Shawneetown. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to the Golden Circle or the Hogan Cemetery.
