Anthony Vincent Rider

Anthony Vincent Rider, age 67, lifelong Ridgway resident, passed on this life at Linda White Hospice Center in Evansville, IN.  He was born on August 14, 1955, on the family farm East of Ridgway near the Pond Settlement community, to the late Daniel Vincent and Catherine Louise (Abell) Rider.  

He grew up on the family farm and it became his passion.   He farmed the land he grew up on until health forced retirement.  In his younger years, he enjoyed riding motorcycles, music and being with his friends.  His love for his dog Maux pronounced MO was unwavering as he went with Tony most of the time.  

His prize in life was being a father to Matt Rider who tragically died in 2019.  Tony was a treasured son, father, brother, and friend and will be missed by so many. His uncanny wit and little smile will always be remembered.

Tony as most knew was survived by, a brother, Tom (Barb) Rider, 2 sisters, Jane Whiting and Susie (Greg) Huson. and many nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Gene Joiner along with his former wife Stephanie Rider and her daughter Whitney Walker.  Special good friends, Jack Jackson, Shawn Rider and Al Oxford.  He was also preceded by sisters, Delores Scherrer, Aggie Patton, and Rita Brown. His brothers Charles Rider and infant brother James Rider.  Brother in laws, Ray Scherrer, Jerry Patton and Jeff Whiting.

Visitation for Tony will be on Thursday on April 6, 2023 at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway from 9 to 11 am.  His funeral service will start at 11 am followed with interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, East of Ridgway where he was raised.  Fr. Vincent Mukosa will officiate.

Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the St. Patrick Cemetery.
