Ray Couser

Bernard “Ray” Couser of Ridgway IL, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2023. Ray was born October 24, 1944 in Gallatin County, IL to the late Carl and Alice (Mills) Couser. He was married to Lola (Hosman) Couser for 24 years.

Ray retired as a Coal Miner with Peabody for over 30 years. He had a love for the outdoors; where you could find him fishing, hunting for mushrooms and even enjoying the family camping spot. Ray found his relaxation mowing the yard. All while watching the birds for hours. Family was his pride and joy and he will be greatly missed by so many.
 
Ray is survived by wife Lola (Hosman) Couser. 3 sons Sonny Couser, Bud (Lena) Couser and Wes (Tammy) Jackson. 2 daughters Lora (late Tony) Sauls, and Christe (John) Hathaway. Along with 19 wonderful grandchildren and 15 Wonderful great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Donnie Couser & Bobby Couser, Sister in Law Charlene Couser, Son in Law Tony Sauls and granddaughter Delaney Mayberry.  

Visitation for Ray will be Monday March 27, 2023 at Cox and Son Funeral Home Ridgway, IL from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. Funeral service will be Tuesday March 28, 2023 at Cox & Son Funeral Home Ridgway, IL at 1:00 PM with Rev. Chris Cook officiating interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Ridgway, IL.
