Brenda Joyce Dozier

Brenda Joyce Dozier, age 78 of Shawneetown, IL passed away on November 9, 2023 at home surrounded by her family. 

She was born in Verda, Harlan County, Kentucky on July 21, 1945 to Burley and Maude (Coker) Lewis. Brenda married Benny Dozier on November 16, 1964, he preceded her in death. She was a retired nurse that had worked at Loretta Nursing Home and in Evansville, IN with long term care patients. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking and going home to Harlan, Kentucky.

Brenda is survived by her three daughters, Cindy Frailey of Shawneetown, IL, Joy (Michael) Flahardy of Yorktown, IN, Cheryle Hazel of Shawneetown, IL; one son, Benny Dozier Jr of Shawneetown,IL ; ten grandchildren, Savanna Gunter, Jarred (Tabby) Case, Garrett Case, Mathew Dozier, Seth (Heather) Gunter, Carli Case, Taylor Frailey, Dalton Gunter, Dylan Gunter, Hailey Dozier; eleven great grandchildren, Jarran Hale, Peyton Gunter, Bentley Case, Dawson Gunter, Chandlar Case, Rayliegh Case, Kylee Case, Aria Case, Hadley Case, River and Ryan Hawkins; brother, Gary (Diana) Lewis of Shawneetown, IL; aunt, Mabel Coker of Evarts, KY.

Funeral service will be 2:00 pm on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at Cox and Son Funeral Home in Shawneetown, IL. Visitation will be from noon until time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Bro. Randy Vaughn will conduct the service. Interment will follow the service at Elmwood Cemetery.
