Bricem Cox

Bricem A. Cox, 98, lifelong resident North East of Ridgway passed peacefully on December 16, 2021 surrounded by by his family at Parkway Manor in Marion, IL.

Bricem was born on the family farm May 28, 1923 to the late Jonathan A. & Effie E. (Murphy) Cox.  On June 24, 1942 he married the love of his life, Florence K. (Gregg) Cox.  Bricem and Florence had lived North of Ridgway for over 70 years on the family farm where they raised their family until her death May 23, 2015.

Bricem was a lifelong farmer and livestock producer.  His greatest joy was watching the family farm continue into the next generations.  He and Florence loved to travel and toured many farming operations abroad.  He collected antique tractor seats, loved to garden and watch the spring planting and fall harvest of the crops.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Ridgway and served as elder for many years.  He was a 50 year member of the Ridgway Masonic Lodge and Gallatin County Farm Bureau.

Bricem is survived by, 3 sons, Mike & Jeanie Cox, Robert & Sharyon Cox, and Gerald & Tracy Cox. 4 grandchildren, Tammy (Bruce) Arnold, Michael (Angie) Cox, Leslie (Brad) Thompson, and Tracy Cox. 7 Great Great Grandchildren, Peyton and Noah Arnold, Jonathan and Gracie Cox, Ellen, Brice and Blake Thompson.  2 special nieces, Barbara (Cox) Schoolmeesters, and Kay (Cox) Smullen.  Niece, Bridgett Evers and Nephews, Pat & Tim Gregg.  He was preceded in death also by 4 brothers, and 4 sisters.

Per his request, there will be a private graveside service with burial in Old Cottonwood Cemetery where he will be laid to rest by his wife, Florence.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Southern Il. Hospice or Shriners Hospital for Children.
