Charles Daniel Rider, 74, of Flagler Beach, Florida, passed away on June 6, 2022. He was born on March 14, 1948 to the late Daniel Vincent and Catherine Louise (Abell) Rider.
He grew up on a farm in Ponds Settlement, east of Ridgway, Illinois. He was married to Cindy Kellow Rider of Flagler Beach.
Charlie was awarded the Purple Heart medal for his service in the Vietnam War. He worked in the airline industry for Ozark, TWA, and American Airlines for 50 years, retiring in 2017.
He enjoyed woodworking and fishing. One of his favorite places to fish was at the Lake of the Ozarks with his best friend Ron Duneman.
He was a loving husband, treasured father, grandfather, brother and friend.
Charlie is survived by his wife Cindy, their daughter Kristina (Austin) Sibole of Union, MO. Former spouse Marsha Adams Meiners and their two children, Klay (Natalia) of Creal Springs and Katie Mercer of Carterville. Six grandchildren, Cora and Kaleb Rider, Zoe, Zac, and Lilly Mercer and Abigail Sibole.
He is also survived by two brothers, Tom (Barbara) Rider of Lehigh Acres, Fl and Tony Rider of Ridgway, Il and two sisters, Jane (Jeff) Whiting of Galatia, Il and Susie (Greg) Huson of Front Royal, VA.
Also surviving are brothers-in-law Jerry Patton of Shawneetown, Gene Joiner of Stonefort and numerous nieces and nephews.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Delores Scherrer, Aggie Patton, Rita Brown, infant brother, James, nephew Matt Rider and brother-in-law Ray Scherrer.
A graveside service will be announced at a later date.
