Cletus Doc Bond

Cletus ""Doc"" Bond, age 74 died peacefully at his home in Ridgway on Friday, August 30, 2013, surrounded by his family after an extended illness. Doc as most knew him was born in Mill Shoals, IL on December 13, 1938, to the late O.F. and Lorene (Clark) Bond. He graduated from Ridgway High School and spent most of his life working in the family business, Bond Lumber. He also had worked at Jader Fuel as a mechanic. On December 9, 1977 he married Jane (Fromm) who survives. Doc spent many years as an active volunteer fireman on the Ridgway Fire Dept. He was a Catholic by faith. Doc was a hard worker, and loved to travel with Jane in his later years. He was a good husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be missed.

Doc is survived by his wife Jane (Fromm) Bond of Ridgway, 2 sons, Phillip (Tonya) Bond, of Norris City, and Wes Bond of Ridgway. Grandson, Dylan Bond and Granddaughter, Katelyn Bond of Norris City. 4 brothers, Cleve Bond, Clarke (Linda) Bond, Carl Ray (Linda) Bond and Gene (Sandy) Bond all of Ridgway. 1 sister, Joyce Bond of Ridgway. 3 Brother in laws, Bob (Joan) Fromm of Junction, IL, Don (Debbie) Fromm of Shawneetown, Steve (Kim) Fromm of Equality. 6 Sister in laws, Helen Bond of Ridgway, Linda (Ed) Bickett of Cave In Rock, Sue (J.L.) Wathen of Evansville, IN, Joyce (Roger) Mobley of Ridgway, Carol (Keith) Farris of Ridgway, Lisa (Chris) Berry of Harrisburg. His father and mother in law, Hubert and Sarah Fromm of Ridgway and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Doug Bond, and 2 brothers in laws, Mark and Mike Fromm.

Visitation for Doc will be on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway. His funeral will follow starting 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Fr. Steven Beatty officiating. Interment will follow at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Ridgway.
