Dorothy J Cook

Dorothy Jean Cook, age 79 lifelong Ridgway resident died peacefully on December 14, 2014 in the Heartland Regional Hospital in Marion, IL. Dorothy was born on April 27, 1935 in Ridgway, IL to the late Lawrence and Dorothy (Oliver) Davis. She was married to Frank ""Teetle"" Cox and Leon Cook both now deceased. Dorothy had worked all of her life in many facets, she worked at the Blevins Popcorn Plant for years, was a beautician, set with the elderly and had worked in health care. She loved to read, go camping and family gatherings. Dorothy was a member of the Ridgway Church of God. She was a good wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and will be missed.

Dorothy is survived by, a daughter, Ellen (Lyndal) Sork of Ridgway, 3 sons, Frank (Lynda) Cox of Carmi, IL, Charles W. Cox and Larry Cook both of Ridgway. 5 Grandchildren, Christie Wood, Peggy (Josh) Pretzsch, Jason Sork, Gregory (Laura) Sork and Rich (Chris) Cox and 7 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Dee (Dora) Davis of South Carolina. Dorothy was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Margaret Risley and Joan Cox.

Visitation for Dorothy will be on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 from 10:00AM to 12:00 Noon at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway. Funeral service will follow starting at 12 Noon on Tuesday at the funeral home. Rev. Lyndal Sork and Rev. Jason Sork will officiate and interment will follow in Jackson Cemetery.
