Edgar ""Doc"" McGhee, age 80 of Eldorado died peacefully at his home in Eldorado, IL on Sunday, May 17, 2015. Doc as most all knew him was born in Shawneetown on April 29, 1935 to the late John and Mary McGhee. He worked for many years until retiring as a heavy equipment operator mostly in the Chicago area. In years past he love to hunt and fish along with gardening. He loved to watch cooking shows and was a great cook himself. He loved gospel and country western music and visiting with his family and friends. He was retired member of the Operating and Engineers Union Local 150.
Doc is survived by his companion of over 50 years, Catheryn Partain who survives. 3 daughters, Janet Johnson of Eldordo, Joann McGhee of Shawneetown and Julie Booth of Mineral Wells, TX. 16 grandchildren and a host of great grand. His extended family of Nadine (Marvin) Vanvlymen, Ralph (Teresa) Partain, and David Delgado also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, along with a son, Jim McGhee, a daughter, Joyce Sharp, 2 grandchildren and 8 siblings.
Visitation for Doc will be on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at the Cox & Son Funeral home in Ridgway from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. His funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Marvin Vanvlymen officiating. Burial will follow in the Westwood cemetery in Shawneetown.
