Edna McCue Valter

Edna McCue Valter, age 79, of Ridgway, IL, died November 27, 2014 in Park Ridge, IL. Edna was born in Equality on November 19, 1935 to the late J. Edgar and Hazel (Randolph) McCue.

Edna graduated Equality High School and then attended Stephens College where she obtained her Bachelors Degree and then attended the University of Illinois obtaining her Masters Degree in Education. She taught for several years in Norris City as the Home Economics teacher. She settled in Ridgway where she raised her children and was active in the community especially the Women's Club. Edna was a wonderful Mother, daughter, sister and friend and will be missed.

Edna is survived by a daughter, Sarah Jane Valter of Chicago, IL and a son Shawn Valter of Quincy, IL, a grandson, Jack Clisham of Chicago. A niece, Martha Lands Frame, and nephews, Nicholas Valter, Jim Alleman and J. B. Gates. She was preceded in death by her parents along with a sister, Mary Ann Lands, 2 half sisters, Winifred Alleman and Aileen Gates, a half brother, John McCue and a nephew, Don McCue.

Visitation for Edna will be on Friday, December 5, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway. Her funeral service will be at the funeral home on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Alan Porter officiating. Her interment will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery in Equality.
