Edward G. Barton, Sr

Edward Gene Barton, Sr, age 60 longtime Shawneetown resident died at the home of his son in Rockdale, IL, on February 23, 2015 after an extended illness. Edward or as most knew him Scooter was born on November 13, 1954 to the late Roscoe and Lois (Patey) Barton. He served his country in the Navy and worked most of his life as a laborer. Scooter loved music and was in some bands in his teenage days. He was a free spirit with a smile and helping hand for all he knew. He will be greatly missed.

Edward is survived by 2 sons, Edward ( Caryn) Barton, Jr of Rockdale and Dakota Barton of Harrisburg, IL, 2 daughters, Brandy Gulley of Evansville, IN and Angela Barton of Harrisburg, IL a brother, Jay (Donna) Barton of Shawneetown, 3 sisters, Linda Back of Shawneetown, Pearl Jackson of Uniontown, KY and Cathy (Roger) Jones of Omaha, IL. 14 grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Shawna Barton, a brother William Barton and a granddaughter Gabrielle Barton

Funeral service for Scooter will be on Friday, February 28, 2015 at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Shawneetown starting at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be on Friday from 11:00AM to 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Westwood Cemetery with military rites by the Ridgway American Legion and VFW
