Ernest E. "Gene" Lynch

Ernest E. “Gene” Lynch, age 79 lifelong Gallatin County resident passed on this life, March 15, 2023 in Harrisburg Medical Center.  Gene as most knew him was born East of Ridgway near the Ponds Settlement community on November 14, 1943 to the late Taylor and Margaret (Doerr) Lynch.

Gene worked for about 33 years at the Ridgway Popcorn Plant before retiring in 1988.  In his younger days he loved to fish, dance and socialize with his friends and family.  He had the best personality and was always happy and smiling.  Gene was a good son, brother, uncle and friend and this world was definitely a better place because of him.

He is survived by a brother, Don Lynch of Shawneetown, a sister, Sharon Stacey of Shawneetown and a brother in law, Jim Rigsby of Shawneetown.  He is also survived by nephews Cody Stacey and Jim Rigsby Jr and a niece Sarah Stacey.  Gene was also preceded by a sister Catherine Rigsby.

Visitation for Gene will be Saturday, March 18, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Shawneetown.  His funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home starting at 11:00 AM with Rev. Jason Sork officiating and burial will follow in Westwood Cemetery in Shawneetown.
