Evadeen A. Mills

Evadeen A. ""Toots"" Mills, age 85 of lifelong Ridgway, IL died on Monday, December 14, 2015 in the St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville, IN. On July 5, 1930 in Ridgway Evadeen was born to the late Samuel and Anna (Neuman) Roe. On June 21, 1951 she married the late Carl ""Pappy"" Mills. They owned and operated Pappy's Tavern in Ridgway for many years.

Evadeen was a faithful member of the St. Kateri Catholic Church in Ridgway where she was also a member of the Altar Society. She retired after many years in Gallatin County Government as a Deputy Treasurer and Deputy County Clerk. She had also years ago worked at the Blevins Popcorn, the Telephone Co. and FS. She loved to be around family and friends and really loved to dance. In years past Evadeen and her family spent many days during the year at Round Pond, fishing, camping and enjoying people. She always had a smile for you, but you also always knew where she stood.

Evadeen is survived by a daughter, Susan (Donnie) Bowman of Norris City, IL and a daughter in law, Neva Mills of Ridgway. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Krystal & Joshua Smith, Danielle & Josh Healy, SueElla Phillips, Morgan Phillips, Ardon (Jarod) Smith and Kia Gwaltney. Great Grandchildren, Zaine, Liberty, Hunter, Kale and Gabryel , Jaden, Dylan, Bella and Paisley, Talan , Rylan, Noah and Haley and one on the way, Raelynn. She is preceded in death by her son David J. Mills, 6 brothers, Sam, Boots, Barney, Carl, Eddie and Lawrence Roe, 3 sisters, Roberta Roe, Madge Koester and Irene Kaufman.

Visitation for Evadeen will be on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and a Rosary service will start at 4:00 PM. Her funeral mass will be on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 10:00 AM at the St. Kateri Catholic Church in Ridgway with Fr. Steven Beatty celebrating. Her interment will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Ridgway.
