Everett L. Roe, Sr

Everett L. Roe, Sr., age 84 of Shawneetown, Il died Friday, September 25, 2009 surrounded by his family in the Deaconess Hospital, Evansville, IN. Everett was born near Ridgway on May 28, 1925 to the late Frank and Ethel (Chapman) Roe. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. On Feb.25, 1959 he married the former Frieda (Kanady). Everett loved cars, especially drag racing and working on them. He was a retired Bus driver. He was a good husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Frieda of Shawneetown, 2 Sons, Ray (Penny) Stanley of Harrisburg, IL, Everett Jr., (Anne) Roe of Lebanon, TN, 3 Daughters, Sharon (Steve) Gwaltney of Carmi, Carolyn (Carlos) Sanders of Shawneetown, and Tina (Jason) Hubbard of Junction, Il. 2 Brothers, Edgar Roe of Junction, IL and Henry Roe of Equality, Il. 7 Grandchildren, Andrea May, Chrissy Boston, Gary Stanley, Jaron Roe, Jaci Hubbard, Jackson Van Dyke, and Rex Sanders. 7 Great Grandchildren. Preceded in death by 4 Brothers, Mike, Bert, Tommy, and Louis Roe, Sister - Ruth Smith, Grandson, Preston Roe and Daughter in Law, Phyllis Stanley.

Visitation for Everett will be Monday, September 28, 2009 at the Cox and Son Funeral Home in Shawneetown staring at 5:00 PM ending at 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 30, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Church of God in Shawneetown where the family will receive friends after 12 Noon. The Rev. Keith Moore will officiate and interment will be in the Lindale Cemetery in Eldorado, IL. Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the family and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
