Gladys Black, age 93 longtime resident of Leamington, IL passed on this life peacefully on Wednesday, January 30, 2013. Gladys was born in Gallatin County on January 9, 1920 to the late Thomas and Floyd (Barnett) Brinkley. On May 15, 1939 she married her soul mate, Clifford Black and he preceded her in death in 2001. Gladys enjoyed her life on top of the hill at home in Leamington, where Clifford and her raised their family. She loved to Cook, work in the Garden and be around her family. She was always so kind and a real pleasure to talk to. Gladys was a good wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend and will be greatly missed.
Gladys is survived by 2 sons, Jim (Beth) Black of Port Charlotte, Fl, and Jerry (Beverly) Black of Harrisburg, IL. Along with grandchildren, Debra (Artie) Stubbs, Jason Black, Shannon Black, Sherman Black and great grandchildren, Trevor(Alexa), Nichole, Kaitlyn, and Daniel. She is also survived by a sister in law, Myra Jo Brinkley. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robie Brinkley, 2 sisters, Euna Scott and Blanche Brinkley.
Visitation for Gladys will be on Sunday, February 3, 2013 from 12 Noon until 2:00 PM at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway. The funeral will also be Sunday beginning at 2:00PM. Rev. Robert Patton will officiate and the interment will follow in Leamington Cemetery.
