Glenda Irene Steele, age 48 of New Haven passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 13, 2011 surrounded by her family. Glenda was born in Carmi, IL on August 4, 1963 to Ernie and Dorothy (Pettyjohn) McGhee. She graduated from Ridgway High School and then furthered her education becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse. On November 12, 1983 she married her soul mate, Glendal Steele. She had worked for the past 17 years at the Westpark Rehab Center in Evansville. Over the years she had been very active in the Just Us club in New Haven, the American Red Cross and raising her family. She was a very caring and loving person who really enjoyed being around her family and friends. All that knew her were always welcomed to her wonderful and vibrant personality and her uncanny wit. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. New Haven was definitely a better place because of her, she will be missed.

Glenda is survived by husband, Glendal of New Haven, 2 sons, Chris (Laura) Steele of Eldorado, Il and Shaun (Charli Belford) Steele of New Haven, her parents, Ernie and Dorothy McGhee of New Haven, her sister Janice (Denny) Abell of Ridgway, her grandson, Casen Steele of Eldorado and her special niece and nephew, Joey Abell and Carrie Abell both of Ridgway. Glenda is also survived by many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by a nephew Wesley Abell.

Visitation for Glenda will be on Saturday, October 15, 2011 from 3 PM to 8 PM at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in New Haven. Funeral Services for Glenda will be on Sunday, October 16, 2011 at 2 PM at the funeral home. Rev. Keith Moore will officiate. Interment will follow in Union Ridge Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family ask donations to be made to VNA Hospice, envelopes will be available.
