Guy R. Wilson

Guy R. Wilson, age 74, of Galatia, IL but formerly of New Haven, IL passed on this life, April 16, 2022 in Deaconess Hospital in Evansville IN.   Guy was born on December 23, 1947 in New Haven, IL to the late Guy Wilson Sr. and Liberty (Thomas) Ball.  Guy was married to the love of his life, Nancy (Cotton) Wilson on November 26, 1998.

Guy was a hard worker and had been a Boiler Maker for many years with U.S. Steel before his retirement.  He was a proud union member of Boilermakers local 374.  Guy had a personality, heart and kindness larger than life.  He was always concerned for others.  Guy had a laugh you will never forget if you ever heard it, a smile every time he saw you and kindness to everyone.  His days of running around New Haven will be with us forever as the stories never get old.  Guy loved to be outside gardening, and was known for his huge gardens each year, canning his harvest.  His sense of humor would have you laughing all the time around him.   He will be remembered for the all the things mentioned but he would want to be remembered of his faith.  He read his Bible daily and loved Christian music.   Guy was good man and will always will be remembered fondly.

Guy is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Wilson of Galatia, his sons, Eric Wilson of Terre Haute, IN, and Brian (Jill) Wilson of Mt. Vernon, IL. His step daughters, Julie and Jill Girot of Galatia, IL.  5 Grandchildren.  Grace (Wilson) Boze, Evan Wilson, Lily Wilson,and step grandchildren, Jaci Wood and Andy Girot.  Guy was preceded in death also by a brother, Joseph Wilson, Sisters, Marcella Donahue, Beverly Wilson and a stepson, Joe Girot.

Visitation for Guy will be on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM.  A celebration of his life will immediately follow and will then be laid to rest in the Plainview Cemetery, Norris City, IL with his family.
