Hubert “PeeWee” Clifford, age 86 of New Haven, IL passed on this life, November 1, 2021. Hubert was born in Concord, IL on August 1, 1935 to the late Barney and Dessie (Travelstead) Clifford. PeeWee was married on September 4, 1954 to Shirley (Brewer) Clifford who preceded him in death in 2016.
Hubert better known as “PeeWee” was a lifelong resident of New Haven known for his making of fishing nets, he was so well known for this an article was done on him in the Evansville Courier newspaper. He had worked as a mechanic, ran a fish market, was known for his fish fry’s and loved his family. PeeWee will be missed by many.
Hubert is survived by his sons. Carl (Angie) Clifford, and Hubert Lee Clifford. Daughters Evelyn Durbin, and Threasa (Eric) Williams. Brother Clarence Clifford. Sister Jenny Clifford Smith. 14 Grandchildren, 43 Great Grandchildren and 9 Great Great Grandchildren with 2 on the way. He is also preceded in death by a grandchild, Johnny Hedger, a great grandchild, Isabella Hansbrough, 3 brothers, William, Robert and Louis Edward Clifford, 5 sisters, Louise Johnston, Joan Emery, Edith Littrell, Kay Mason and Rose Goforth.
A visitation will be Saturday November 6, 2021 at Cox & Son Funeral Home in New Haven, IL from 10:00 AM to 12 Noon. His funeral service will immediately follow at 12 Noon with Rev. Todd Holtzclaw officiating. He will be laid to rest in Union Ridge Cemetery next to his wife.
