James M. Durbin

James M. Durbin, age 80 longtime resident of Omaha, died peacefully at his home on December 2, 2013. Jim was born in Wheatcroft, Ky to the late William and Nina (Cummins) Durbin on June 17, 1933. On May 15th 1959 he married Lena (Carter) Durbin who survives. Jim served his country in the Korean conflict in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1954. He retired from B & B Construction and Patton Pipeline. He was member of the General Baptist Church of Norris City and a Life member of the Carmi VFW. He was known for raising rabbits and selling apples in retirement years. He loved to talk and visit with people and always had a kind word for you. He will be missed.

Jim is survived by his wife Lena of Omaha, a son Bobby Durbin of New Haven, 2 daughters, Carolyn Pilon and Nancy Miller. A brother, Richard Durbin of McLeansboro and a sister, Helen Combs. 7 Grandchildren, 7 Step Grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren and 4 Step Great Grandchildren. And several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Margaret Gangard and Addie Garrett.

Jim chose to be cremated. His graveside service with burial of his ashes will be held on December 14, 2013 starting at 2:00 PM at the Hazel Ridge Cemetery near Omaha. Military rites will be accorded by the Carmi VFW.
