James ""J-Bird"" Reavis

James D. ""Jay"" Reavis, age 78
died suddenly at his home in Ridgway on July 8, 2009.

Jay was born in Mulberry Grove, IL on August 17, 1930 to the late Ira Reavis and Bernice (Wright) Reavis. Jay served his country in the Air Force. He was a laborer most of his life in the construction business. He was a quiet man unless he knew you, but was always willing to help someone. He could fix anything and was truly one of the last Shade Tree Mechanics. Jay will be missed by the community and his family.

Jay is survived by 3 Sons - Terry (Julie) Reavis of Ridgway, IL, Jim (Andrea) Reavis of Flora, IL, and Jay ""Butch"" (Sharon) Reavis of Vandalia, IL. 1 Brother Ray and 2 Sisters Jean and Rotha. 5 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren.

At Jay's request he was cremated and a graveside service will be held in Vandalia, Il on Saturday, July 11, 2009.

Services were entrusted to the Cox and Son Funeral Home in Ridgway.
