Jeffory Kent Whiting

Jeffory Kent Whiting, age 69, of Galatia, IL passed on this life, October 18, 2022 in the Herrin Hospital after a short illness.  Jeff as most knew him was born in Harrisburg, IL on October 1, 1953 to Ron (Deceased) and Marjory (Gurley) Whiting.  On June 1, 1973 he married the love of his life, Jane (Rider) Whiting and they have had 49 wonderful years together.

Jeff was always a very hard worker; he had worked most of his life in the Coal Mines as an Electrician and Master Mechanic before retiring.  He loved to garden, fishing and working on his many projects.  He loved to travel with his family.  Jeff was a loving husband and treasured father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend.

Jeff is survived his wife, Jane Whiting of Galatia, his sons, Timothy (Amy) Whiting of Harrisburg and Nicholas (Keithsha) Whiting of Glassboro, New Jersey, his grandchildren, Austin Lowry, Bradyn Whiting, Caleigh Whiting, Alexandrea Whiting, and Vincent Whiting.  He is also survived by his mother, Marjory Whiting, his sisters, Rhonda (Keith) Teal and Sondra (Kevin) Hefner, a sister in law, Pam Whiting, nephews, Jason (Courtney) Whiting, and Joe (Katie) Whiting and nieces, Rebecca Teal and Keri (Barry) Tye    Jeff is preceded in death by his father, Ron Whiting and a brother, David Whiting.

Visitation for Jeff will be Friday, October 21, 2022 at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.  His funeral service will immediately follow with Justin Ferrell officiating.  Interment will be in St. Patricks Cemetery East of Ridgway.
