Jerry Mosby

Jerald W. (Jerry)  Mosby, age 85, longtime Gallatin County resident passed on this life in Ferrell Hospital on November 18, 2022, surrounded by his family.  Jerry was born April 5, 1937, in Eldorado, IL to the late A.B. and Ama (Edwards) Mosby.  On September 2, 1961, he married the love of his life Virginia (Lane) Mosby and together they created a life and legacy that will long surpass Jerry's life on earth.

Jerry served his country in the National Guard as a young adult and worked many years in the Operating Engineers as a heavy equipment operator until he was able to devote his life to his passion of farming and raising cattle.  He farmed up until the day he transcended to heaven with the assistance of his loving and supportive wife.

Jerry was known for speaking his mind, never meeting a stranger, always lending a hand to help a neighbor or friend, and always putting his family first.  He was an avid storyteller, and his sense of humor would often lead to belly laughs.  His humor often referenced cattle farming which made his style unforgettable.  Jerry was a man who  appreciated hard work but had a soft spot for the less fortunate and children.

Jerry's most prized accomplishment was his 61 years of marriage to his wife Virginia (who survives him) and the family they created.  They had 4 children: Roxie Doerr of Ridgway, Mark Mosby of Cave-In-Rock, Tamela (deceased) (Paul) Conn, and Michelle (Michael) Mosby-Scott of Bloomington, IL, along with 9 grandchildren,  Hannah (Jacob) Brugger, Samantha Mosby (Chris Moore), Zackary Mosby, Haley (Zach) Woods, Carson Conn, Logan Conn,  Collin Scott, Connor Scott, and Caitlyn Scott, and step-grandchild, Kody Mosby, great grandchild, Rhett Moore and step great-grandchildren, Waylon Woods, Bowen, Rylan, Emmett and Wrenlee Mosby, and a beloved young man, Kolt Carter.

He is survived by siblings, Webb Mosby, Clyde (Charlene) Mosby, Bill Mosby, Rita Allen, Linda (Thomas) Arnold, Ama (John) Miller and Roxie Sharr.  He was preceded by 3 brothers, Joe, Eddie and Floyd Mosby.

Visitation will be on November 22, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway.  His funeral service will be on November 23, 2022 starting at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Steve Hunt officiating.  Interment will follow in Hill cemetery on the Karbers Ridge Blacktop.  Lunch will be served at Pisgah Church following interment.
