James David Oxford, age, 59 of Duquoin, IL and former Ridgway resident died on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Jim was born in Eldorado, IL on January 16, 1954, the son of Adiel L. ""Bud"" and Mary (Mead) Oxford and raised on the family farm North West of Ridgway. Jim graduated Ridgway High school in 1972 and attended Murray State University. Jim was a district sales manager for LG Seed Company. He was also a farmer and raised horses. He was a Baptist by faith, a member of the VFW Men's Auxillary and was a 4-H member. Jim was a good husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. He will be missed for his contagious smile and his love for people.

Jim married Karen Kay Furlow on Jan. 18, 2003 and she survives along with his mother, Mary Oxford of Ridgway, 2 Daughters, Jennifer (Kevin) Tirey of Springfield and Jaime (Ryan) Brown of Augusta, GA, a son Keith Furlow of DuQuoin, 4 grandchildren, Flynn and Katharine Tirey, and Samuel and Avery Brown. His sister Judy (Robert) Taylor of Cleveland TN. He was preceded by his father.

Visitation for Jim will be on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Searby Funeral Home in DuQuoin. Visitation will then be on Wednesday, from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway with his funeral service starting at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Rev. Randy Davis will officiate and and interment will follow at Oxford-Rutherford Cemetery near Cave in Rock, IL.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Disabled Veterans Association will be accepted at the funeral home. You may leave a note of comfort to the family at www.coxandson.com
