John T Gauen

John Thomas "JT" Gauen, age 67 of Phoenix, Arizona, formerly of Ridgway, IL, passed on this life, at his home on Monday, February 6, 2017.  John was born in St. Louis, MO on November 1, 1949 the son of Tyler and Frankie (Bahl) Gauen.  He attended St. Joseph Grade School in Ridgway, and Chaminade Prep School in St Louis, MO, graduating from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, IL with a bachelor in accounting. 

He grew up in Ridgway, loved to play sports and be with his friends, rather running around or spending time at Sandy Run Lake. JT was an entrepreneur most of his life, he had been very successful in many ventures.  His love of life was always present when he was in the room, from is contagious smile and unique voice; he enjoyed his time with friends and family.  An avid St. Louis Cardinal fan, having season tickets for his whole life. He loved working on his home and his backyard. 

John Thomas is survived by his fiancé Cheryl Hummel Ihry, Phoenix, AZ, nephews Timothy Bruce (Patricia) Gauen of Western Springs, IL, Thomas Brian (Marcella) Gauen of Naperville, IL., Chris Pruett, Phoenix, AZ  , nieces, Holly Pruett of New Orleans, LA, Lauren Pruett, Phoenix, AZ,  great-nephews, Mitchell  Gauen, Benjamin Gauen, Jack Gauen great-nieces, Meghan Gauen, Kelsey Gauen all of Chicago, IL

He was preceded in death by Parents Tyler and Frankie (Bahl) Gauen, brother Woody Gauen and sister Francee Gauen Pruett

There will be a Celebration of Life Open House held at John's home in Phoenix, Arizona on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017 from 2:00-5:00.
