Joy Clevenger

Joy Gregory Clevenger, age 84, longtime resident of Shawneetown, IL passed away at her home on Sunday, September 7, 2008.
Joy as most knew her was born in Hardin County, Illinois near Sparks Hill on October 25, 1923 to the late Cecil and Margaret Collins. She was married to Otto Clevenger her preceded her in death, Joy was a faithful member of the Ohio Valley General Baptist Church in Shawneetown, loved to watch the St. Louis Cardinals and playing fetch with her dog, Romie. She was a homemaker and took so much pride in caring for her grandchildren. Joy was a good mother, grandmother, great grandmother and Mother in Law.
She is survived by 5 Daughters, Joyce Clevenger of Morgans Point, Texas, Annette (Steve) Brugger of Ridgway, Il, Karen (Pat) McLain of Equality, IL, June (Rick) Rushing of Shawneetown, Il, and Cindy Dunk of Shawneetown, IL 2 Sons, Gordon (Carolyn) Clevenger of Ridgway, IL, and Bobby (Viva) Clevenger of Sturgis, Ky. 19 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by, her parents, husband, Sons, Pete and Ricky Clevenger, Daughters, Patsy Clevenger, Gracie Warden, and Connie Smith, 1 Granddaughter, June Rose Clevenger and 1 Grandson, Jimmy Hubert.
Visitation for Joy will Thursday, September 11th 2008 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Cox and Son Funeral Home in Shawneetown. Funeral will be Friday, September 12th, 2008 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home with her grandson Rev. Michael Rushing officiating. Interment will be in the Westwood Cemetery in Shawneetown.
Joy preferred as a choice of remembrance, memorials be made to the Ohio Valley General Baptist Church in her memory
