Joyce Ann Rider

Joyce Ann Rider, age 83, of Ridgway passed on this life, Monday, April 3, 2017 in Ferrell Hospital, Eldorado.  Joyce was born Kentucky on June 16, 1933 to the late Hershel Hopson and Vivian (Taylor) Hopson Mosley.  At the age of 8 her family moved to Old Shawneetown, where she grew up.  On March 29, 1950 she married J. W. Rider who survives.  Joyce was a faithful member for many years at the Ridgway First Baptist Church.  She was a homemaker her entire life, raising her children and grandchildren. She loved to visit her family and friends and will be remembered of her smile.  Joyce was a good wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed by many.

Joyce is survived by:

Husband – J. W. Rider of Ridgway

Son -  Mike Rider of Ridgway

Daughters -  Lois Lynch of Ridgway and Carol (Lindel) Bohnhoff of Dietrich, IL

Sister -  Mary (Hubert) Combs of Shawneetown

Grandchildren -  Shanda (Eddie) Hinson, Kyle Hall, Rachel Lynch and Shelly (Ernie) Rigdon

6 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren.  Many Nieces and Nephews.

She was preceded in death by: Son – Bobby John Rider, Grandchildren, Bryan Lynch and Jennifer Weiland, Son in Law, Billy Lynch, 2 brothers, Everett and Hershel Hopson and a sister, Emma Smith.

Visitation for Joyce will be on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.  Her funeral service will be on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at the funeral home starting at 11:00 AM.  Rev. Rob Gallion and Rev. David Auxier  will officiate and her burial will take place in the Westwood Cemetery in Shawneetown.
