Laverne Phillips

Laverne “Tillie” Philips, age 93, longtime Ridgway resident, passed on this life on March 2, 2018.  Tillie was born in Equality on June 30, 1924 to the late Sanford and Maggie (Fuhr) Barnett.  She was Presbyterian by faith.  She loved to play Bridge and travel.  She had a wonderful life and loved her family.  She attended the University of Illinois  and was a member of the Ridgway Woman’s Club.  Tillie was a very proud lady always prim and proper. She will also be remembered for her contagious smile and  personality.  She was a loving mother and wife and was kind to everyone she met.

Tillie is survived by her son, Scott and Judy Philips of Ridgway, a daughter Cynthia and Jim Seegraves of Tampa, FL, 3 grandchildren, Scott Phillips, Jennifer Bean and Cody Seegraves, Great grandchildren, Stevie Rae Phillips, Max Phillips and Braxton Phillips, Addison and Mason Bean.  Preceded in death by a brother Bob Barnett. .  Special Thanks to her caregivers, Velna Dobbs and Cheryl Koerber.

Graveside service for Tillie will be on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Elmwood Cemetery near Equality.  She will be laid to rest with her parents.  Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway is entrusted with the arrangements.  Those wishing to attend should meet at the cemetery.
