Linda F. McGuire, age 80, of Ridgway, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2022, in Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro.
Linda was born on the family farm on February 23, 1941, to the late Martin and Louise (Wenzel) Abell. She grew up in the Pond Settlement Community east of Ridgway, attending Keane school for 1 year, then graduating grade school from St. Joseph Catholic School in Ridgway and Ridgway High School.
The love of Linda’s life was her husband Charles, who she affectionately referred to as “Charlie”. They were married on July 15, 1959. They were an inseparable couple, who enjoyed nothing more than spending time with their family. Her loving and kind ways were not limited to her own family. Through her home child care, Linda touched many lives in the surrounding area.
Her love of family extended to St Kateri Parish family. She was a very faithful person, always living her life for the Lord. Linda was a faithful member of the St. Kateri Catholic Church and Altar Society. She loved to help in the kitchen for parish dinners and especially the Ham and Bean dinners.
Linda was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her. She will be remembered for her kindness, sweet disposition, and smile.
Linda is survived by her husband, Charles McGuire of Ridgway, her son and daughter-in-law, Tim (Lisa) McGuire of Newburgh, IN, Daughter in Law, Lori McGuire of Woodbury, MN. Grandchildren, Matthew (Abby) McGuire, Benjamin McGuire, Kaitlyn (Brayden) Cartwright, Kasey (David) Byrley, and Dr. Ryan (Jett) McGuire. Great Grandchildren, Olivia and Liam McGuire, Mason Cartwright, McKenna, and Adalynn Byrley. She is also survived by 4 Brothers, Bob (Barbara) Abell, Richard (Barb) Abell, Larry (Connie) Abell, and Pat Abell, 1 sister, Cathy (Jim) Smith. 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob (Judy) McGuire and Fred (Peg) McGuire. She is preceded in death by 2 sons, Mark and Charles Anthony McGuire, and a brother, Fr. Don Abell.
Visitation for Linda will be Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at the St. Kateri Catholic Church in Ridgway from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. Her funeral mass will immediately follow with Fr. Vincent Mukasa and Msgr. Joe Lawler celebrating. She will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Cemetery in Ridgway.
Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Kateri Church in her memory and envelopes will be available. Masks are required while inside the church.
