Lucretia E. Browning, age 87, of Eldorado, longtime New Haven resident; passed on this life, July 21, 2022, in the Eldorado Rehab and Healthcare Facility surrounded by her loving family.

Lucretia was born on November 27, 1934, in Granite City, IL to the late Harry and Mary (Jolly) Stamps. On May 9, 1953, she married the love of her life James (Jim) L Browning recently celebrating 69 years of marriage.

Lucretia was involved for many years in the Gallatin County Home Extension, was active in the New Haven School PTA, and supported her husband Jim in the oil business, he states, “the best secretary ever.”  She loved to cook, take long walks with Jim, and most of all, spending time with her grandsons. She was a member of the St. Kateri Catholic Church in Ridgway. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Lucretia is survived by her husband, Jim Browning, a son, Brent (Donna) Browning, three grandsons, Fr. Ryan Browning, Mark (Monica) Browning and Alex Browning and his fiancé, Erica Hughes; Great Grandchildren Abbie, Ben, Jameson, and Josie Browning. She is also survived by two brothers, Richard (Susan) Stamps and Daniel Stamps. In addition to her daughter, Mary Elaine Browning, Lucretia was preceded in death by eight brothers, Paul, Alfred, Marion, Tom, Bill, Phillip, Tim, and Charles Stamps, as well as three sisters, Marybelle Hampsey, Martha Hart, and Rose Marie Kurtek.

Visitation for Lucretia will be on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at the St. Kateri Catholic Church in Ridgway from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM with funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 AM. Her grandson Fr. Ryan Browning will celebrate her Mass; she will be laid to rest in the Union Ridge Cemetery near New Haven.

Memorial contributions in her memory can be made to the St. Kateri Catholic Church.
