Marie Lowery

Marie Lowery, age 90 lifelong resident of Shawneetown, died Friday, November 4, 2011, surrounded by her loving family, in the Fountainview Nursing Home after a long illness. Marie was born in Shawneetown on April 4, 1921 to the late McKinley and Lillian (Talkington) Smith. Marie was a homemaker and a member of the General Baptist Church in Shawneetown. She was married to Roy Lowery who preceded her in death. Marie loved the outdoors especially Flowers, Birds, and Butterflies, she loved music but mostly she loved her family and children. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be greatly missed.

Marie is survived by 2 Sons, Jim (Susan) Lowery of Cave In Rock, David Ralph and the late Diane Lowery of Shawneetown, 2 Daughters, Alice (Charlie) Belt of Morganfield, Ky and Lillian and the late Jim Estes of Sturgis, Ky. 11 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren and 8 Great Great Grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lowery, 2 Sons, Bud and Roy Kenneth Lowery and a Daughter Wynonia Lowery.

Visitation for Marie will be on Monday, November 7, 2011 from 5 to 8 PM at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Shawneetown and the Funeral service will be on Tuesday, November 7, 2011 starting at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Rev. Butch Goins will officiate and interment will follow at the Webber Campground Cemetery near Galatia.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to the VNA Hospice.
