Marilouise Murphy

Marilouise Murphy, age 100 years, 9 months, and 19 days died peacefully on August 7, 2015 in the Ridgway Nursing and Rehab Center. Marilouise was born on October 18, 1914 in Eldorado, IL to the late John and Ethel (Jones) Kelly. On May 4, 1936 she married John R. Murphy who preceded her in death in 2002.

She was a member of the Eldorado First Baptist church and a 50+ year member of the Order of the Eastern Star where she was the organist

Marilouise witnessed so much in her 100 years - from no electricity and running water, to living through the depression, World War II and many other things. She loved to travel and visited every state in America other than Alaska. Marilouise had an incredible sense of humor, loved to play bridge, to play the piano, to crochet and had a never-ending affinity for chocolate - to which she often credited her longevity. But most of all, she loved her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be missed by all that knew her.

Marilouise is survived by two daughters, Ann (Jack) Milligan of Ridgway and Donna (Bob) Oliver of Lake of Ozarks, MO; a brother, Ralph Kelly of Boise, ID; five grandchildren, Beth Chrisman and Cheryl Sweet of Union Grove, WI, Jarrell Oliver of Bel Air, MD, Mike Milligan of Newburgh, IN, Amy Graber of Montgomery, IN; 15 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service for Marilouise will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 in the Lindale Cemetery in Eldorado. The family asks in lieu of flowers that donations be made to your favorite charity in her memory. Cox & Son Funeral in Ridgway is entrusted with the arrangements where you may leave a note of comfort to the family at www.coxandson.com
