Mary Jo Holmes, age 71, longtime resident of Ridgway, passed on this life, July 11, 2022 in the Deaconess Hospital, Evansville, IN.
Mary Jo was born in Eldorado, August 22, 1950 to the late J.B. and Iona (Crogan) Holmes. She spent most of her adult life with the love of her life, Bobby John Rider who preceded her in death in 2012.
Mary Jo graduated from Ridgway High School and started working in Springfield at the Secretary of State of office for about 1 year before moving back to Ridgway to start her Career at the Gallatin County State Bank now Banterra Bank in Ridgway. She started as a Teller and retired 38 years later as Operating Officer in charge of mergers and acquisitions of the Bank. She enjoyed outdoor activities from when she was little playing Khoury League Ball to fishing with Bobby John. She also enjoyed playing cards. She will be remembered as a person with an exceptional work ethic. She was a good daughter, companion, sister, aunt and friend. Mary Jo was a member of the St. Kateri Catholic church.
She is survived by, a sister, Alice Duvall of Ridgway, Donna Holmes of Springifeld, and a brother, John Holmes of Ridgway. She is also survived by a nephew, Tim Duvall and nieces, Lisa Holmes and Carla Holmes Taylor. Great Nieces and nephews, Shaun and Pamela Duvall, Conner, Skylynn, Aiden, Breana Ethan and Emma, Taylor, Drew and Andy, and many cousins. She is also survived by J. W. Rider.
Visitation for Mary Jo will be Friday, July 15, 2022 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Kateri Catholic Church with her funeral mass immediately following. Fr. Vincent Mukasa will celebrate and she will then be laid to rest in Westwood Cemetery in Shawneetown next to her companion Bobby John.
