Mary Joan Horn

Mary Joan Horn, age 67 longtime resident of Ridgway died on Sunday, August 7, 2011 at the Wabash Christian Center in Carmi after an extended illness. Joan as most knew was born on the family farm east of Ridgway on October 10, 1943 to the late Burtis and Alfreda (Berkel) Rider. She was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church. Joan had worked many years in housekeeping at Ferrell Hospital before retiring. Everyone that knew her will remember her kindness and always had a smile for you. Joan was a wonderful cook and enjoying cooking for her family. She was always the happy when she was with her grandsons. Joan was a wonderful mother, loving grandmother, good sister and friend. She will be greatly missed.

Joan is survived by her daughter and son in law, Becky and Tyler Sidwell of Norris City and 2 Grandsons, Scott and Jonathan Sidwell of Norris City. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Parker in 1970 and her son, Scott Parker.

Visitation for Joan will be on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Cox and Son Funeral Home in Ridgway with a prayer service at 5:00 PM. Graveside services will be on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the St. Patrick Cemetery east of Ridgway. Pastoral Assistant Jean Wills will officiate.
