She leaves behind a legacy of love through her surviving family: her sons, Rick (Jackie) Vaughn of Norris City, IL, Dink (Diana) Vaughn, and Gary (Tammy Cleveland) Vaughn; daughter in law Darla Vaughn of Norris City; her grandchildren, Andrea Johnson of Omaha, IL, Jessica (Braydon) Tharp of Mcleansboro,IL Brandi (Jason) Johnson, Aubrey (Steve) Schlice of Stephen's Point, Wisconsin, Audrey Capps of Norris City, IL, Patryc Brinkley, Nathan Mugge, and Rebecca (Jackson) Street of Goreville, IL; her great-grandchildren, Seth Jarvis, Baylor Capps, Hannah Ellison, Parker Schlice, Carlee (Garion) Moore, Jace Johnson, Addie Johnson, Jathan Tharp, Brilyn Tharp, Kaitlyn (AJ) Boggess of Eldorado, IL, and Trenton (Hannah) and Brooklyn (Jace) Raymer of Shawneetown, IL; and her great-great-grandchildren, Riverton Aaron Boggess, Quenton Boggess, Dutton Jess Boggess, Benton Moore, and Veyda Moore.
Married to Riley Vaughn on October 8, 1958, Mary and Riley shared a beautiful partnership filled with affection, joy, and a shared commitment to their family. Together, they raised three sons, instilling in them the values of kindness, hard work, and the importance of family.
Mary's life was a testament to the power of love and togetherness. Her heart was her home, and her home was a sanctuary for all who entered. Family gatherings were the cornerstone of her life, where she delighted in bringing everyone together to share a meal and create lasting memories. Her passion for cooking was legendary, and her kitchen was a haven where love was the secret ingredient in every dish she prepared. Mary took great joy in welcoming her grandchildren after school, always ready with a warm meal and an even warmer embrace. Her front porch was her favorite retreat, where she would sit and watch the world go by, often accompanied by the laughter and chatter of her family. It was on that porch that many precious moments were shared, stories were told, and bonds were strengthened.
Mary's gentle spirit and nurturing nature touched the hearts of all who knew her. Her legacy of love and family will continue to inspire and guide her descendants for generations to come. In honoring her life, we remember her as a beacon of love, a woman who cherished her family above all else, and a soul who found joy in the simple pleasures of life.
A celebration of Mary's life will be held on a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember the incredible woman, she was. Mary Louise Vaughn will be dearly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she loved so dearly
