Matthew Rider

December 18, 1987 — May 9, 2019

Matthew Dylan Rider, age 31, passed away, May 9, 2019, in a automobile accident.  Matt as most knew him was born in Evansville, IN on December 18, 1987 to Tony and Stephanie (Atwood) Rider.  He graduated from Gallatin County High School and then graduated with a Bachelors Degree from USI in Evansville, IN.

Matt was a free spirit with kind and gentle heart.  He loved music especially from the 1970’s.  He was very creative, loved to draw, write poetry and work with computers.  He enjoyed his time on the farm in the bottoms especially looking for Arrowheads.  He enjoyed skateboarding and anything outdoors.  Matt worked for many years at Dan’s Competition in Mt. Vernon and at Vectren.  He will be sadly missed.

Matt is survived by his father, Tony Rider of Junction and his mother, Stephanie Rider of Shawneetown.  1 sister, Whitney (Eric) Walker of Rudemont, IL, his grandfather, Robert (Bonnie ) Atwood.  Many, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends and his little dog, Mo.  He was preceded by his grandparents, Vincent and Louise Rider and Kay Atwood.

Visitation for Matt will be on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Shawneetown from 12 Noon to 2:00 PM.  A graveside service will immediately follow at the St. Patricks Cemetery east of Ridgway.  Monsignor Joe Lawler will officiate.
