Mattix Troy Sandifer

Mattix Troy Sandifer entered life on March 10, 2005, and left us on August 8, 2025.

Mattix is the cherished son of Matthew and Jessica Sandifer, Mattix is not only their son, he was everyone’s son. They graciously shared him with others because he is such a gift. He is the GOAT, a true Legend. Everyone he met was changed after an encounter with him. His laughter contagious, his smile mischievous, and his spirit gentle.

He was a 2024 graduate of Gallatin County High School and a current student at Southeastern Illinois College. Mattix loved the game of basketball and was a member of the SI Select AAU Travel Team that won the 2023 Reebok World championship Tournament and was on last year’s SIC Basketball Team. He was a bright light in our lives, and we will miss him until our last day.

In addition to his parents, he leaves behind an older brother Darrick Sandifer, a cherished sister and brother-in-law Kali and Doug Wagers, and his youngest brother Mavrick Sandifer, and brothers of the heart Michael (and wife Gabi) Velez and Christian Velez. His grandparents, Jim (Pap) and Phyllis (Gran) Foster, Brenda (Bam) and Steve (Pop) Laskowitz, and Bruce and Beverly Sandifer. He is the best hero and uncle ever to Presley and Dawson Wagers.

There is a plethora of family members and loved ones who were all very important parts of his life. Mattix cherished everyone he met and shared his big love, playful antics and precious moments with them all.

Beyond that, he leaves his best friend Cayden Bullington, long-time companion Adriana Pierce, endless brothers he played ball with, numerous gym buddies, and the countless lives touched by his immeasurable spirit.

There will be a visitation for the public Tuesday, August 12th, from 5:00 to 6:00 PM at Cox and Sons Funeral Home in Ridgway, and a celebration of life will follow at 6:00 PM.

Matti Boy would have loved to fix up the courts at Ridgway Park. It is our intent to raise funds to do just that. Any donation you may feel compelled to contribute will help to make that possible.
