Mildred Evans Chapman, 89, of New Haven, passed away 1 a.m. Monday, March 31, 2008, at Wabash Christian Retirement Center, Carmi.
She was born near Dogtown on Nov. 28, 1918, the daughter of Alex and Leona Holland Vines. She was married to Carl Chapman and he preceded her in death. She was a clerk for several years at Garrison's Grocery Store.
She is survived by a son-in-law, James C. Wilson; grandson, James C. and Nancy Wilson; and two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Eric Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl; a daughter, Anna Fern Wilson; two brothers, Robert and Silas Vines; and two sisters, Anna and Lussie Vines.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at Cox and Son Funeral Home in New Haven with the Rev. Todd Holtzclaw officiating and burial in Union Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at the funeral home
