Paul E. Jones, age 85 longtime resident of Ridgway died, Friday, May 8, 2009 at his residence. Paul was born in Ridgway on March 16, 1924 to the late George and Emma (Moye) Jones. He was married October 1, 1950 to Judith (Woolard) Jones who preceded him in death. Paul was a University of Illinois graduate with a Degree in Chemistry. After he graduated college he worked for the Swift Company as an Chemist before moving back to Ridgway to become part of the well known Jones Brothers Farm Store. He continued his education throughout his life also becoming a Real Estate Agent and Buyer of Timber. He was well known in his later years as author, writing 3 books that were published. Paul served his country in the Army and was a Veteran of WW II. He was a Methodist by faith, a lifetime member of the Ridgway American Legion and VFW where he participated in the honor guard until his health started failing. Paul was a quiet man, but always was honest, fair and courtesy to all the people he touched. He was one of the last pillars of the Ridgway community and will be missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by a Brother in Law, John McKinley of Harrisburg, a Sister in Law, Beulah Jones of Ridgway, 6 Nephews, John Ed (Rita) McKinley of Eddyville, IL., Scott (Charlene) Jones of Ridgway, IL, Denny (Nancy) Jones of Springfield, IL, Gary (Carolyn) Jones of Ridgway, IL, Bob (Geri) Jones of Chicago, IL and Terry Jones of California. He was also preceded in death by 2 Brothers, Warren and Winfred Jones along with a Sister in Law Velma McKinley.

Services will be Monday, May 11, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the Cox and Son Funeral Home in Ridgway with Rev. Arthur Austin officiating. The family will receive friends for viewing after 10:00 AM on Monday. Interment will be in the Jackson Cemetery in Ridgway with Military rites conducted by the Ridgway American Legion and VFW.

In lieu of flowers Paul's wishes was for donations be left at the Ridgway VFW to help on the upkeep of the Tank at the Ridgway Park.
