Phyllis F. Kanady

Phyllis Freda Kanady, 86, of Shawneetown IL. passed from this world on September 29, 2023 at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado IL with her family by her side. Her purpose in life was to enjoy every event with her grandkids and great-grandkids. She was a basketball, softball and volleyball Grandma. She also loved to play bingo, play cards, computer games and to read. She was born on December 6, 1936 to belated Emmer and Andrew “PeeWee” Terrell. Surviving is her husband, Raymond “Wimp” Kanady of Junction IL. Two daughters, Ethel Huddleston of Junction and Freda (Sherman) Rider of Shawneetown. Four Grandchildren, James “Jim” Newton (Jamie) of Junction, Shannon Sauls of Shawneetown, Abby (Rick Rice) of Harrisburg and Sarah Rider of Junction. 7 Grandchildren Druanne Newton of Junction, Tyler Newton of Morganfield KY. Hannah Sauls of Carbondale IL, Gracie Sauls of Marion IL, Gage and Gabriel Joiner of Junction and Adam Rice of Harrisburg. 1 Great-child Ellie June Newton of Morganfield KY. Preceding her in death are her parents, all siblings, and an infant daughter, Sandy Jean Kanady. Visitation will be at Cox and Sons Funeral Home in Ridgway IL on Monday, October 2, 2023 from 11 – 1 with funeral at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Elmwood Cemetery.
