Richard Williams, Jr. age 82 of New Haven died peacefully Friday, February 05, 2010 at the home of his loving daughter from an extended illness. Jr. as most called him was born in Herald, IL on November 18, 1927 to the late Richard Williams Sr. and Renda Mae (Catlin) Williams. Jr. served his country honorably in the United States Army working in the Military Police. After returning home from the Army, Jr. spent most of his years in the Timber Logging business, but also worked in construction. He was an avid outdoorsman, loving to hunt and fish. He was a St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan following the team for many years. Jr. was a member of the New Haven American Legion where he looked after the Military rites squadron for many years. He was also a member of the Carmi VFW Men's Auxillary. He was a very caring person always willing to help out if needed and always had a smile for you. Jr. was a good father, grandfather, brother and friend he will be greatly missed by the New Haven Community.
Jr. is survived by, 3 daughters, Mary Williams of New Haven, Vicki O'Neal of Evansville, In and Frances Rush of Carmi, Il, 2 Sons, Kenny Williams and Eric Williams both of New Haven. 1 Brother, John Robert Williams of Norris City, IL and 1 sister, Fleeta Guffy of Altamont, Il. 6 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren. Jr. is preceded in death by 3 Sisters and 3 Brothers.
Visitation for Jr., will be on Sunday, February 7, 2010 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Cox and Son Funeral Home in New Haven, IL. Funeral will be on Monday, February 8, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the Cox and Son Funeral Home in New Haven. Rev. Sonny Jackson will officiate. Interment will be in the Heralds Prairie Cemetery.
