Robert C O'Neil

Robert C. ""Bob"" O'Neil, age 81 of Mt. Vernon, IN but formerly of Ridgway died on Jan. 1, 2015 in the VNA Hospice Center in Evansville, IN. Bob was born in Ohio County, Ky on June 28, 1933 to the late James and Georgia (Kitchens) O'Neil. On December 29, 1951 he married the love of his life, Martha (Anderson) O'Neil who survives. Bob was retired from Whirlpool as a Supervisor for 37 years. Bob was a Mason in the Beulah Lodge # 578 and a former Scottish Rite and Hadi - Shrine. He loved to camp, fish, hunt, garden and be outdoors. He always enjoyed talking with his friends and family and was a great family man and loving husband.

Bob is survived by his wife of 63 years Martha O'Neil of Mt. Vernon, 3 Sons, Robert Steven O'Neil, Roderick (Tammy) O'Neil and Marty (Helen) O'Neil all of Mt. Vernon, IN. 2 sisters, Eilene Smiley and Shirley Massey. 6 Grandchildren, David, Katherine, Amanda, Sara, Jennifer, and Joseph and 9 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan O'Neil and 2 brothers, Edward and Leon O'Neil and a sister, Pauline West.

Visitation for Bob will be on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015 from 2:00PM to 4:00 PM at the Glory Road Baptist Church, 2229 W. Indiana St, Evansville, IN, then on Monday, January 5, 2015 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway. His funeral service will be on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway starting at 10:00 AM. Rev. Delbert Bryant will officiate and interment will follow in the Old Cottonwood Cemetery North of Ridgway.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to the Glory Road Baptist Church.
