Roy “Squibb” Eugene Lynch, 72, of Ridgway, IL passed away peacefully on June 6, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones.
Roy was born on April 26, 1953 to Grant & Dora Lynch of Ridgway, IL. He & his wife, Marlene Lynch were together for almost 55 years. Together, they had three daughters Angela Lynch, Sonya(Rick) Tabb of Mt. Vernon, IN, and Mandy(Frank) Pennington of Omaha, IL. He was the best Papa to his grand & great-grandchildren: Jordan(Eric) Waddle, Chloe Padget, Dori Hise, Jaden & Kyrin Tabb, Chance, Jayde, & Morgan Pennington, Ava, Lennox & Cora Waddle, and Hunter & Novaleigh Dutton. He has many relatives in Northern Mississippi, including a sister, Lynn Etta Lynch and sister-in-law, Diana Lynch. Roy was a loving uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend to many.
In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cruising down the backroads. Roy worked at the Popcorn Factory for over 30 years. After retirement and as time passed, his adventures shifted to simple pleasures like trips to town, traveling with his family, testing his luck at scratch-offs and the casino boat, catching his favorite television shows, and settling into the comfort of his recliner. Of course, any moment he shared with his friends and family was always a good one.
Roy was the bond that held the family together. He taught them to be strong and showed them an unmeasurable love. The impact he left on our hearts will forever be treasured and he will be deeply missed. We find comfort in knowing that his arrival in Heaven was met with a joyful reunion, one filled with peace, love, and familiar faces waiting to welcome him home.
Roy is preceded in death by his siblings: Reda Swindle, Beulah McCaughan, David, Glen, & John Lynch, daughter: Angela Lynch, granddaughter: Jaclyn Padget.
Visitation will be help by Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway, IL on Tuesday, June 10 from 10am-1pm with funeral to immediately follow. Graveside service will be at Hogan Cemetery. There will be a Celebration of Life afterwards at the Ridgway Legion.
