Sammie F. Risley age 78 longtime resident of Ridgway passed away, Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at the Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.
Sammie was born in Ridgway on August 15, 1929 to the late George W. and Pearl (Farley). He served his country in the Army as a Sergeant in WW II and Korea and while in the service was awarded a Purple Heart. He returned to Ridgway and was married to Margaret (Davis) in 1952. He worked for Wabash Valley Farm Service in Ridgway for 30 plus years before retiring. In his spare time he love to treasure hunt searching the local area with his metal detector. He was a good husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, he will be greatly missed.
Sammie is survived by his wife, Margaret Risley of Ridgway, Son, Sammie Lee Risley of Ridgway, Son, George (Marilou) Risley of Ridgway, Son, Keith Risley of Ridgway, and Son, Scott (Melissa) Risley of Ridgway. Grandchildren, Charles, Kris, Kyle, Raven, Zane and Gage., Great Grandsons, Cody and Joey. Sisters, Mary Lou Mobley of New Haven, Helen McCain of Jonesboro, IL.
Visitation for Sammie will be Wednesday, March 26, 2008 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Cox and Son Funeral Home in Ridgway with the funeral service on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Jackson Cemetery with Military Rites by the Ridgway American Legion.
