Selby McDowell

Selby McDowell of Gulf Shores, AL and formerly of Shawneetown, IL  was born March 3, 1925 to the late John and Etta (Milligan) McDowell of Cave-in-Rock, IL.  He passed away January 4, 2013 of natural causes.

Selby and Ruth are survived by their daughters, Deb (Greg) Gravett of Gulf Shores, AL and Carol (Don) Roberts of Madison, AL; 5 grandchildren, Stacey (Andy) Alderson of Denver, CO, Jaime (Ryan) Cunningham of Rock Springs, Wy, Morgan (Chris) Phillips of Gulf Shores, AL, Lauren (Jacob) Caudle of Opelika, AL and Michael Roberts of Madison, AL; also surviving are 5 great-grandchildren, Jalen Gravett, Gregory Jase Reese, Katelyn Alderson, Charles Caudle and Archer Phillips. Selby is, also, survived by one brother, Lowell McDowell of Washington state.

They were predeceased by their parents, 2 grandsons, Gregory Brian Gravett and Justin King Swope; brothers, John McDermott, Kenneth and Armel McDowell and his sister Marie Price.

Graveside services for Selby and Ruth (McDermott) McDowell of Gulf Shores, AL and their nephews, John C. and James McDermott of Carbondale, IL will be held Saturday, June 16th at 10 a.m. at Westwood Cemetery.  Those wishing to attend should go directly to the cemetery
