Sherry Rigsby

Sherry Rigsby, 82, of Old Shawneetown, IL died Monday June 29, 2026 at 6:55 PM in Staunton, IL. Her wishes were to be cremated. There are no services scheduled at this time, burial will take place in Westwood Cemetery at a later date. Cox and Son Funeral Home in Shawneetown, IL is assisting the family with the details.

Sherry was born on September 21, 1943 in Shawneetown, IL to the late Omer and Bertha Lee (Watkins) Barger.

She married Billy Ray Rigsby Sr. on September 10, 1960 and he preceded in death on January 23, 2022.

Sherry worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse and was also over the dietary department at Ridgway Manor for many years.

She loved to read, she has a very large collection of books at home, she also loved to watch Jeopardy, but her favorite activity was to play Bingo and pull off pool tabs.

Sherry is survived by 3 Children: Leanna (Chuck) Haas of Staunton, IL; Dottie Rigsby of Junction, IL and Billy R. Rigsby Jr. of Old Shawneetown, IL; Sister Donnie K. (Raymond) Berlin of Sidell, IL; Brother: Bobby Barger of Atwood, IL; 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandhildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband: Billy R. Rigsby Sr., 3 Brothers: John Barger, Sonny Barger and Jackie Wayne Barger; and 3 Sisters: Mary Lee Buckman, Joann Mungle and Francis Chamberlain.
