Shirley A. Stricklin

Shirley A.  Clayton Stricklin, age 84, peacefully passed away March 10, 2023. Shirley was born October 13, 1938 in New Haven, IL to the late Guy and Opal (Simmons) Thompson.

Shirley was a minister, love to sing and write songs and listen to all gospel music.   She always was concerned for others and taking care of the needy.  In her younger days she enjoyed camping and fishing.  Shirley will be remembered as a good person with good soul.  She will be missed by many.

 
Shirley is survived by 3 sons, Gary Clayton of Harrisburg, IL, David (Vera) Clayton of New Haven, IL, and Jim (Debra) Clayton of Shawneetown, IL. One daughter Toby Hise of Eldorado, IL. Along with 3 brothers, John (Diane) Steele of Shawneetown, IL, Alan (Sue) Steele of Shawneetown, IL, and Glendal Steele of New Haven, IL. One Sister Ester Steele of Harrisburg. IL 1 Grandson James Ray Clayton and 1 great grandson Zane Clayton.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents along with brother Ivan Steele and Daughter Veronica Clayton.

Graveside services for Shirley Stricklin will be Thursday, March 16, 2023 at the Union Ridge Cemtery near New Haven.  The time of service will be 1:00 PM and thoes atending shouild go directly to the cemetery.
