It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Stephen Lowe Duffy, 71, beloved husband, father, grandfather and uncle. Steve was born on October 12, 1953, and left this world on July 12, 2025. He lived a life full of love and kindness, deeply impacting all who had the privilege of knowing him
Master Sergeant Duffy served in the United States Air Force from September 23, 1972, until his retirement from Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada, on August 24, 1996. He also served 26 years of civil service from October 14, 1997, until September 30, 2022, at Nellis, for a total of 50 years of service to his country. During his military career, he had a profound impact on everyone he worked with in the Liquid Fuels Division, sharing his knowledge with young airmen as well as seasoned co-workers.
Steve is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Veronica “Bing” Duffy, two children, Steve Duffy of Winters, California and Valerie Mendoza of Woodland, California, two brothers and their wives, Martin & Cathy Duffy of New Haven and David and Sharleen Duffy of Carmi, and a sister-in-law, Paula Duffy of Galt, California. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Micah Duffy, Demi Mendoza, Zoe, Stevie and Chase Duffy. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Pauline Duffy, a brother, Kenneth Duffy, and an infant sister, Catherine Duffy. Steve’s life was a testament to love, generosity and the importance of family. He held a special place in the hearts of his family and friends.
To honor Steve’s life and legacy, a prayer service will be held at 3:45 pm on Tuesday, July 15, followed by visitation from 4:00 until 7:00, all at Cox and Son Funeral Home in Ridgway. The funeral service will be Wednesday, July 16 at 10:00 am at St Kateri Catholic church in Ridgway. His final resting place will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Ponds Settlement.
