Carla Sue Goforth Minnemeyer, age 73 died peacefully on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at her home in New Haven, after an extended illness surrounded by her family. Sue as most knew her was born on June 29, 1940 in Broughton, IL to the late George Hubert and Wanda Lee (Stokes) Ellison both deceased. Sue was a nurse for many years before retiring. She had worked at Ferrell Hospital and Peabody Coal. She was known as the town nurse in New Haven as she helped so many people over the years. Her passion was Quilting, she made beautiful quilts and taught many how to do this. She was a member of the New Haven Quilters, New Haven Piece by Peace Quilt Guild and the New Haven Auxillary. Sue was married to Carl Goforth who preceded her in death. She is now married to Harry Minnemeyer who survives. Sue was a very loving and wonderful Mother, Wife, Grandmother, Sister and friend. She will be missed.

Sue is survived by her husband, Harry Minnemeyer of New Haven, 2 daughters, Nickie (Alan) Evans of New Haven, Brigitte (Willie) Browning of New Haven, 3 step daughters, Julia (Mike) Durmont, Susan (Tom) Carter, and Sara (David) Michailof, Daughter in Law, Robyn Howton, Sister, Paulette (Larry) Welsch of Houston, Tx, brother, Richard Ellison of Omaha, IL. Grandchldren, Erin (Rob) Gmerek, Cory Evans, Adam Goforth, Hailey Browning, Jordan Evans, Paige Browning, Allison Michailof, Lucas Michailof, Rowan Carter, Henry Carter. Great Grandchildren, Travis, Alan, and Jeffrey Gmerek. And a special friend Meriam Tison of Raleigh, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl and her son, Jeff Goforth.

Visitation for Sue will be on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 from 4-7 PM at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in New Haven. Her funeral will be on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Union Ridge Presbyterian Church with interment to follow at the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers you may make a donation in her memory to the New Haven Piece by Peace Quilt Guild for their Christmas for Children.
